We work with associate agencies in most parts of Europe including France, Spain, Italy and Germany as well as the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland.

Applicants from Bosnia, Macedonia and Turkey must obtain a visa from the local British consulate before travelling.

If they have not obtained a workers accession card before arrival, applicants from Romania and Bulgaria must obtain a BR3 visa as soon as possible after arrival. Please refer to the website www.workingintheuk.gov.uk

Any citizen of the E.U. irrespective of sex or age, may be an au-pair. Any unmarried non-European, aged 17-27, from a list of countries defined by the Home Office. An Au-Pair may be either male or female.

Travel Insurance

It is essential that all au-pairs have full travel insurance, to last for the total length of their stay, before coming to Britain. This can be often be obtained through the International Students association. Your nearest university should be able to help you. Gap year insurance is not expensive.

Medical Information

As low income citizens, aupairs may be able to obtain assistance with the cost of medical, dental and optical treatment if they complete an HC1 form. This is obtainable from medical centres, opticians and dentists.

The Au-Pair Agency cannot arrange this for you.

For Turkish au-pairs, the rules for Overseas Visitors Registration are applied. Turkish au-pairs must register at their local office within one week of arrival, if so instructed on entry to the United Kingdom. Failure to do so may result in a £2,500 fine and/or six months imprisonment and/or deportation, the London office is at Brighton House, Borough High Street, London SE1, telephone 020 7230 1208.

The current visa charge for this registration is £34, payable by the au-pair.
